IPDN fate to be decided

SEMARANG: Home Affairs Minister Mardiyanto said Friday the fate of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) would be determined this week.

He said his office had received draft recommendations from the government-appointed team assigned to evaluate the institute to determine its future, following the death of sophomore student Cliff Muntu, who was allegedly abused by his seniors.

The team has recommended the institute either maintain its curriculum, or conduct a complete overhaul to become a regular university that adopts the national education system.

""The decision (on the institute's fate) will be made by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono after he returns from an overseas trip,"" Mardiyanto said. -- JP
