Bali was the last stop for U.S. author Kathy Reichs' book tour, promoting the 10th installment of her series on heroine and forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan.

After traveling to New Zealand and Australia, and participating in last week's Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, Reichs -- who is herself a forensic anthropologist and one of the fifty certified by the American Forensic Anthropology Board -- promoted her latest book Bones to Ashes on Monday.

The story follows Brennan's discovery of a young girl's skeleton in Acadia, Canada, on the border of Quebec and New Brunswick, which she suspects to be the skeleton of her childhood friend Evangeline.

Reichs said the idea for the book came from different experiences. The first was a case in which she was a member of the investigative team examining the skeleton of a five-year-old girl in Acadia in 1989, she said. She added the rise in child pornography on the internet also inspired the theme for her latest book.

Reichs said each of her stories focuses on an aspect of forensic anthropology that she has personally had experience with through her work.

""Professionally, Temperance and I are identical. However, she is her own character,"" she said.

Her stories have been adapted to a television series called Bones, which is aired by FOX Network. Reichs herself is one of the producers of the TV series. -- JP
