Governor receives medical treatment

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: East Nusa Tenggara Governor Piet A. Tallo has been receiving treatment in the Dr. Sutomo hospital in Surabaya, East Java.

The 65 year old has suffered from acute respiratory problems for the past four months. He received treatment in Jakarta in July after being rushed to the emergency unit of Kupang's WZ Yohannes hospital.

The governor's health deteriorated in September, after which he was taken to the Sutomo hospital.

""The governor's assistant said he has started to recover, but it is not known whether he is out of the hospital or not,"" the provincial administration's spokesman, Eduard Gana, said Saturday.

He said the governor, whose term will end in June next year, is yet to ask for sick leave from the President. -- JP
