YOGYAKARTA: Yogyakarta Provincial Police said the pilot and copilot of Garuda's crashed airplane would be summoned as witnesses for further investigations into the flag carrier's crash in March this year.
Yogyakarta Police chief detective, Sr. Comr. Ari Dono said the police had sent letters summoning pilot M. Marwoto Komar and co-pilot Gagam Saman Rohmana.
""As of today their status is still as witnesses,"" Ari told Detik.com.
But he said the police still did not know when the Garuda aviators would come.
The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) this week found the pilot and co-pilot ignorant of safety procedures for the fatal accident that claimed 21 lives.
KNKT however said their findings could not be used as evidence for further legal action.
But Ari said the police would continue to gather information from KNKT experts.
