BANDUNG, West Java: The West Java Police on Monday sent the completed case file of the former rector of the state-owned Public Administration Institute (IPDN), I Nyoman Sumaryadi, to the provincial prosecutor's office.
The lead prosecutor in the case, Happy Hadiastuti, said Sumaryadi's trial was expected to begin in the next two weeks at the Sumedang District Court.
Happy said Sumaryadi would be charged under Article 67 of the 2003 National Education System Law, for illegally providing graduation certificates for seven students allegedly involved in the murder of fellow student Wahyu Hidayat.
The suspect also will be charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code for allegedly ordering IPDN dean Lexie M. Giroth to issue a letter saying student Cliff Munthu, who was beaten to death by fellow students in April, died of liver disease.
Happy added that Sumaryadi would also be charged under Article 222 of the Criminal Code for interfering in a police investigation.
""He could face possible imprisonment of six to 10 years and a fine of up to Rp 1 billion,"" the prosecutor said.-- JP
