Unicef award for Gorontalo province

JAKARTA: Gorontalo province has been named as one of four recipients of a United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) award for its success in promoting basic education development under the Mainstreaming Good Practices in Basic Education (MGP-BE) project, a local official said.

""The world body has invited Gorontalo officials to an MGP-BE meeting that will be held in Bali next month,"" Gorontalo administration spokesman Azis Nurhamiden told Antara in Gorontalo on Tuesday.

The meeting, which will be attended by officials including decision makers from the education sector and elementary and high school principals nationwide, is expected to promote the project across the country, he said.

The MGP-BE project is aimed at developing education programs in provinces. -- JP
