'Femina' awards 35 women

JAKARTA: Marking its 35th anniversary, leading women's magazine Femina recognized 35 women for their dedication in working for the good of women and society.
Femina Group celebrated the day with a garden-themed party at Monas Park in Jakarta last week.
""Femina is part of the city,"" said Governor Fauzi Bowo, who attended the celebration.
Femina Group published the first women's magazine in the country. The magazine's sales and circulation continue to rise, from 20,000 copies in 1972 to 135,000 copies today. Femina has outlasted many other magazines in its category.
Among the 35 women were human rights icon Saparinah Sadli, stage actress Ratna Riantiarno, veteran singer Titiek Puspa, academic Musdah Mulia, film producer Mira Lesmana, Trade Minister Mari E. Pangestu, and art curator Farah Wardani. --JP
