Punish and beat the bullies. Put fear into their hearts.
JAY In the past there was no bullying by senior students to their juniors. School life was full of a sense of brotherhood and togetherness. In solving this problem, teachers and parents should be able to control the activities of their students/children. ABDUL RAHIM

Many principals and teachers often turn a blind eye to bullying and pretend it doesn't exist in their schools. GADIS SIGIT

Teachers have to monitor the activities of their students during break times and try to provide more activities during and after school hours. Punish those who violate school rules and give them lessons on morality. LOVI

Teachers and parents should monitor their children and talk to them about bullying. Don't wait until your child becomes a victim of bullying. LINA

Parents are so busy and often leave their kids in front of the TV and let them play violent video games. Parents should not allow their kids to play such games as they will begin to think that hurting somebody is normal. SEYITHAN

Bullying is the reflection of a sick society. It is quite saddening that schools have become a heaven of thuggery. The government, with help from educational experts, must find a way to stop this from mushrooming. JUJU JUBAEDAH

I have experienced bullying since I was in grade five of elementary school. In my opinion, bullying is caused by feelings of superiority and jealousy and following the example set by parents.
How should one deal with bullying? First, you have to ignore the bullies. Later, talk to someone you trust and find a solution to the problem. Before it gets worse, you should tell a teacher but don't report it.
If it gets worse, you can ask your teachers to witness it (a bulling incident). If it becomes really bad and there is no solution, then you must report it to the school but you must first have strong evidence.
I used a recording from my handphone, a printout from Friendster (a social-networking website) and a teacher witness.
I was eventually blamed by the principal, as a parent of the bully reported me and she is a top businesswoman. ALLYSSA

Bullying seems a legacy which is legalized notoriously. I have not experienced bullying myself, but it happened to my friend.
Supervision at school is important in overcoming bullying.
Educators, parents and even students themselves should be involved. Together they should spread the awareness that school is a place to learn not to harm people. M. KIKI W.

There are certain steps to tackling bullying.
First, uphold law and order based on sternly discouraging acts of bullying. Engage parents. Don't compromise with parents of bullies. Expel bullies from school.
Involve police when bullying occurs in senior high schools to teach them they are almost adults and are not above the law.
Second, provide students with adequate activities like sports, arts etc., for self-expression.
Third, clearly explain to students in workshops what is acceptable and unacceptable. Also, empower the silent majority (other than the bullies and their victims) to speak up against bullying.
Fourth, empower teachers in effective teaching methods. Also maintain an anti-bullying basic training seminar or workshop for teachers. INGGITA
