JAKARTA: Atmajaya University (UAJ) and the Australian Consortium for In-Country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) is running its Journalism Professional Practicum from Jan. 7 through Feb. 15.
This is the second edition of the program; the inaugural practicum was held in 2002.
Students from several Australian universities are taking part in this program, which includes an internship at select Indonesian media companies.
Participating students -- most of whom are majoring in journalism -- are introduced to the Indonesian language, culture and politics in the first two weeks.
It is hoped that the program will foster a better understanding of Indonesia among Australian students.
To date, more than 750 Australian students have taken part in the practicum. -- JP
