Police releases Garuda pilot

YOGYAKARTA: The police released a Garuda pilot on bail Friday after 11 days of detention in connection with a plane crash that killed 21 people in March last year.

Muchtar Zuhdi, lawyer for pilot Marwoto Komar, said the Yogyakarta Police set his client free after Marwoto's family and the Association of Garuda Pilots ensured the release would not hamper the investigation.

"Any time the police investigators ask him to appear for questioning, we will be cooperative and fulfill the summons," Muchtar said.

Marwoto lives in Jakarta. He is accused of negligence resulting in fatalities. -- JP
