I do agree that recently our national education system has been damaged by ourselves, by doing everything wrong. It started when the reform era ruled in our country, not only has the education system been changed frequently, but also our Constitution.
We know that national education has a big program in Indonesia, nine-year compulsory education for people to improve the quality of individuals for having the bright future. But it is like chewing gum, sweet at first chewing, later on bitter. As the nine-year compulsory education, it is nice to hear only but hard or heartbreaking to be implemented.
The frequent changing of curriculum is another rotten thing in the national education system, it means that the failure of it has already started at the same time with the changing of our governmental rules.

'Tempo' apology -- Feb. 11 p. 7
Based on the comments from T. Cotton and Brien Doyle in The Jakarta Post regarding Tempo's apology, I must say that freedom of press is one thing, but this is Indonesia.
Why is it when it comes to Christianity you think that it's OK. If it's OK to insult Christianity then it's OK to insult Islam!
There's nothing humorous comparing Soeharto with the Last Supper, in fact it's an insult! Soeharto is not a saint, not in any way a savior of any kind. He is nothing but a greedy dictator who stashed wealth for the importance of his family and his descendants.
He never cared for his people, if he had any sense of dignity or care he would have expressed it long before he died. It's not enough for the Tempo chief editor to apologize.
