I believe that the use of Smart Card is a good idea. It will give subsidy to the right people and can reduce the number of private cars on the road. So, the government has to manage the Smart Card system correctly in order to achieve its targeted purpose. OCTAVIA PRAMITA

Rationing of fuel only to private car owners will lead to resale and profiteering by other users, like truck, bus and boat owners, factory or commercial buildings equipped with gensets.
The government should look into raising prices gradually to all users except motorbikes. Ration subsidized sales to motorcycles and three-wheeled taxis to help lower-income people.
Encourage people to use public transportation modes by subsidizing mass public transportation fares of buses, train, ferry. EDWARD CHEN

I think smart card would be useful, but it's not an effective way to cut subsidies. Who could guarantee that smart card would be in the right hands? It's better for the government to think about cutting the number of cars/vehicles rather than cutting the gasoline subsidies. SISKA N.P.

As usual the government only shifts the problem (insufficient state revenues due to misuse of funds) to other areas (decrease of fuel subsidy) to create even bigger problem. But the end result is always the same, the people have to pay for the government's inability to manage the state. SOFIA

I think the use of smart card will see repeated the same mistakes the government made when introducing its "poverty card", which in fact did get into the wrong hands. It's obviously caused by the economic gap among rich and poor people. A better and efficient way is to reduce the number of private cars by decreasing demand. Moreover, there's unfinished work on public transportation which can't meet public needs. ANI SAVITRI

I disagree with the idea of introducing smart card or rising the gasoline price, but I suggest to raise the vehicle's tax, parking fee (except for public transportation) to cover the fuel subsidy and also it will automatically reduce the gasoline consumed. JEFFRI

I think it's better to raise the gasoline prices even though people will protest everywhere. The use of a "Smart Card" will not be effective; it's hard to know that people who will get the "Smart Card" will be the right people who need it. It will increase corruption because people will try to get more gasoline. MUNIRA FIRDAUS

Most people assume if you have a car or more, it means you are rich. A smart card is one of the brilliant solutions to prevent the increasing number of cars instead of raising gasoline prices, which will make people scream. So, people will think twice before using their car. FUJI
