UMY holds fashion show

YOGYAKARTA: Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) organized on Feb. 9 a fashion show that featured a women's collection of Islamic dress.

The "Muslim Women Fashion Show 2008" was held at UMY's new campus in Kasihan, in Bantul, Yogyakarta.

Several local Muslim fashion boutiques took part in the show, including Sophie, Tirtasari, Azzahra and Larissa. The event also featured a children's fashion show.

Organizer Nasyiatul Aisyiah said the event was part of UMY's 27th anniversary celebrations.

Musical performances were staged to entertain the show's visitors, most of whom were members of the UMY women's association. -- JP
