Aswin, Columban in welterweight bout

JAKARTA: Indonesian welterweight champion Aswin Cabuy will fight WBO champion Sam Columban of Thailand for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific Welterweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental Welterweight titles in Jakarta on March 18.
Boxing promoter Tourino Tidar said here Monday he would work with Born Star International (BSI) Promotions to increase publicity for the event, to be held at the Senayan Indoor Stadium in Central Jakarta.
Tourino said, while he expected the sporting occasion to attract people in its own right, a charity gala would also be held in support of the event.
Co-promoter of BSI Promotions Eamonn Sadler promised to produce a boxing contest in Jakarta that would rival those of Madison Square Garden and Las Vegas.
The undercard bouts will include Bambang Rusiadi of Indonesia against Thailand's Dechapon Suwannalert for the WBF Asia Pacific Middleweight title; Noldy Manakane against Jemmy Gobel for the national super flyweight title; and Syamsul Hidayat against Ade Alfons for the national welterweight title.(JP/nkn)
