Volkswagen cars in Olympic torch relay

JAKARTA: Volkswagen Indonesia will provide cars to be used during the motorcade to accompany the torch relay for the Beijing Olympic Games in Jakarta, an executive of the company said Thursday.

"We will use our seven best cars, including the Touraeg and Caravelle cars, to escort torch runners here in the city," Volkswagen Indonesia executive director Andrew Nasuri told reporters.

Around 80 runners are set to take part in the torch relay.

The Olympic flame will be showcased to city residents on April 24 along a 10-kilometer route from City Hall on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan to Plaza Senayan in Central Jakarta.

Indonesia is the 16th country in the torch relay after Malaysia. The next country is Australia. --JP
