Banjarnegara, Central Java: The prosecutor's office in Banjarnegara, Central Java, has detained a local health official who was allegedly involved in a mark-up case involving Rp 2.5 billion (US$266,000).

Subroto, an intelligence prosecutor, said besides the suspect identified as AG, other officials were expected to be detained in the high-profile case.

He said the mark-up job involved procurement by the suspect of medical devices in fiscal 2007 different from those specified and caused losses to the state.

"The Development Finance Comptroller is still calculating the losses in the case," said Subroto. --JP
