ADPARA>YOGYAKARTA: Yogyakarta Police questioned Garuda Indonesia co-pilot Gagam Saman for three hours Monday to obtain more information on the crash that killed 21 people, including Australian citizens, at Adi Sucipto Airport on March 7, 2007.
Police have named pilot Marwoto as a suspect in the case. Marwoto was detained but later released when his family and the country's pilot association put pressure on the police to let him go.
"Gagam was asked 18 questions to provide more information to complete previous investigations," Gagam's lawyer Muchtar Zuhdi said.
He said the police focused their questions on the aircraft's landing before the accident occurred. "He is a witness in the case."
Gagam said he remains a Garuda pilot but is temporarily inactive. "I haven't received any threats related to my suspension."
Gagam said the questioning did not focus on his "debate" with pilot Marwoto. "I told them the conversation between us was standard procedure and not a debate." -- JP
