JAKARTA: The London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will this month feature Indonesian motion picture Berbagi Suami (Love for Share), the movie's director, Nia Dinata, revealed Wednesday.
"Yes, the film will be screened at the festival on March 28," Nia told The Jakarta Post on the sidelines of a workshop on gender in Jakarta.
She said the film, which had received many international awards, including the 2006 Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival award, had been screened in more than 60 countries since it was produced two years ago.
The film bravely depicts the complicated practice of polygamy, which is still practiced by many Indonesians.
Prior to producing Berbagi Suami, Nia directed several films, including the award winning film Arisan (Gathering) and Cau Bau Kan, a film based on the novel of the same title by author Remy Silado.
Nia said she was completing a new film, Gara-Gara Bola (Because of Soccer), which had more of a pop culture theme. The film will be screened in October.
"My earlier films, which were produced by my company Kalyana Shira films, had quite serious themes. But this new film is a bit different and was produced by my other company, Happy Ending Pictures," she said.
The 37-year-old said her new flick would star young actor Wingky Wiryawan, actress Aida Nurmala and comedian Aming. -- JP/A.Junaidi
