What's on your iPod?

Digital music libraries are said to reflect their listener's personality. Every week, The Jakarta Post peeks into the iPod of a well-known local figure.

Bobby Alvianto is a vocalist and acoustic guitarist of the indie band Ballads of the Clich*.

Formed in 1998, the band has released mini-albums Hey Smiley in 2003 and Snapshots of Serenity in 2004. In 2006 they released their first full-length album, Evergreen.

Ballads of the Clich*'s music is influenced by pop music including Belle and Sebastian, Nick Drake, Burt Bacharach and Donovan. Below are Bobby's five favorite tracks on his iPod.

1. "Apatis Ria" by Sore. This is a song from their yet to be released album Ports of Lima. The song gives a soothing ambiance, especially in the parts that include a whistle.

2. "Sleeping In" by Radio Dept. The electro-pop band is coming to town in April, so I need to catch up with their music before their arrival. I really like the guitar riff in the intro of the song. I listen to it every night while I ride my motorcycle home from work.

3. "Quiet town" by Josh Rouse. I really like Josh Rouse's music. The lyrics of this particular song give a mental image of the town that he's singing about.

4. "You come and go" by Hotel Lights. I don't like music with too much distortion and Hotel Lights is perfect because their music is relatively smooth and down tempo.

5. "Hyperballad" by Mocca. This is Mocca's cover version of Bjork's original. I like Mocca's version better because it's smoother than Bjork's.
