Forum: Church congregation

I am personally embarrassed about the actions taken by my fellow Muslims in Bekasi. They are not following the true teaching of our prophet or Holy Koran which does recognize other religions. Muslims are required to be tolerant.

We should let other people worship according to their beliefs, and not protest against them. I suspect most of those protesters don't really know about the true teaching of Islam. I also strongly believe there are fundamentalists behind the protests. They don't agree with tolerance and preach to others that they are doing the right thing.

Shame on them, for misleading people to do intolerant acts against our fellow Indonesians.

Taxpayer money

It doesn't need a genius to make a system since our neighbors have done it. That's why a lot of people are reluctant to pay taxes because there is no direct benefit for them in the future. Why doesn't the government try to offer some incentive? And please eliminate tax officers, who make things difficult or deter us from paying.

Taxpayers would be happy if their money was spent for public facilities as well as to help starving children and babies. It is more urgent than for renovating the houses of legislators and for comparative studies abroad.

Protecting orangutans -- March 18, p. 7

I totally agree with comments made by Sean Whyte. The world of the orangutan is slipping through our fingers whilst officials argue and prevaricate amongst themselves*

Today is too late for the orangutans. Take action now to stop palm oil plantations from covering and destroying Indonesia. Don't you realize, when all the trees are gone Indonesia will sink into the sea?

Stop destroying rainforest, save the orangutans. The world waits and watches.

Benefiting from abstention -- March 19, p. 7

Diederik Zwager still thinks Indonesia is ignorant and we did not learn anything. You should know perfectly well investment comes with strings attached and your government is an excellent example.

Didn't our Soeharto send your J.P. Pronk (ex-Dutch foreign minister) home with the words, "Take your aid and get stuffed," causing many Dutch companies in Indonesia to lose million-dollar projects?
