PEOPLE POWER: A man in Javanese clothes addresses thousands of people gathered Monday at the Yogyakarta provincial legislative council to press their demand that the central government affirm the city as a special territory, maintaining Sultan Hamengkubuwono X as its governor and Paku Alam IX as his deputy. The sultan has publicly stated he would not seek another term as governor despite his massive popularity. (JP/Tarko Sudiarno)
