In an effort to seek support for his country on the issue of Kosovo, Serbian Foreign Minister will visit Indonesia this week.
"Our Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic will arrive in Jakarta on Wednesday evening and leave Indonesia on Thursday night," Serbian Ambassador to Indonesia Zoran Kazazovic told The Jakarta Post on Sunday.
During his one-day visit, Jeremic will meet his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirayuda and House of Representatives Speaker Agung Laksono.
Serbia, which wants to resolve the Kosovo issue through UN-supported talks, is wooing countries that have not recognized Kosovo's independence.
Kosovo's parliament unilaterally declared independence on Feb. 17, an act that has been recognized by some 30 countries, mostly the U.S. and European countries. But several countries like Russia, China and Indonesia have not recognized Kosovo's independence.
As part of a global offensive to seek support on the issue, Serbia's Harvard-educated chief diplomat has already visited Vietnam.
Getting the support of Vietnam and Indonesia, both non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, is crucial for Serbia on the Kosovo issue.
Serbia and Indonesia have enjoyed cordial relations for decades, especially under the former Yugoslavia.
