An Iskandar Muda Military Police officer was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen at Lhoongraya Stadium in Bandar Jaya district, Banda Aceh, early Saturday morning.

Iskandar Muda Military Chief Maj. Gen. Supiadin AS said after the incident that the shooting of the Military Police officer, identified as First Sergeant Ujang, was conducted by two men riding a motorcycle.

"Two military personnel and two civilians were in the same car when two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle blocked their way and shot at the car driver, First Sergeant Ujang," Supiadin said.

He said Ujang died on the spot while the two men on the motorcycle disappeared in the dark.

"From the casings of the 5.6 mm caliber bullets, we can conclude that the perpetrators used either an M-16 or an AK gun to shoot the victim, but, regardless, we will continue to find out the motive behind the killing," Supiadin said.(***)
