If their goal is to protect children, the government should produce a documentary or back independent research proving pornography is damaging.
If children are actually part of the content then OK, one can understand that they are victims. But in the West, where most children now have free access to the internet, there is little evidence children have any interest at all in porn. They are usually more interested in sexless cartoon characters or dolls.

Brutal shootings trial -- March 8, p. 8
It is heartening to note that finally a decisive step has been taken to punish the perpetrators. We, however, wish that in addition to punishing the alleged perpetrators, appropriate compensation and rehabilitation for victims and their families are also genuinely considered and implemented.
Besides, it is hoped that this could mark the beginning of serious efforts to address all land disputes between civilians and the military in a country which has incurred so many human rights violations.

Islam recognizes homo -- March 28, p. 1
Your article titled "Islam recognizes homosexuality" is full of misleading information. You often condemn mainstream Ulema and many other Muslims for having narrow-minded interpretations of Islamic teachings. But you or Siti Musdah Mulia have committed an offense against Islam. The Koran's Al-Hujurat (49:3) does not mention what you have written.

Clean our neighborhoods -- March 29, p. 7
I have to agree with the article. I'm a new resident of Jakarta and when I arrived here I was shocked at the pollution of this great city.
I asked myself "don't the citizens of this city take any pride in their homes". It seems rubbish is tossed anywhere or burned creating a foul smell, which spreads throughout the neighborhood.
I'm an English teacher and the topic of lessons and conversations eventually turns to the environment. Everyone agrees pollution is a big problem here. The solution starts with discussion, understanding, consultation and then action.
Action by the government, businesses and the public (rich and poor). Lets keep Indonesia beautiful.

Online porn and business -- March 31, p. 1
I absolutely agree because everybody has different needs when they are browsing the Internet. It is not only porn sites or pornographic photographs they see. Everybody will use the Internet regardless of whether there is an anti-online porn law.
