JAKARTA: Police caught two foreigners who were heroin dealers suspected to be part of a regional drug network.
National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Anton Bahrul Alam said Thursday after a series of investigations that the police drug division arrested PH, a Liberian citizen, and UI, a Nigerian citizen, in Rawa Belong and Batusari in West Jakarta.
Police seized five grams of heroin and crystal methampethamine, known locally as shabu-shabu, during the raid.
"An officer who posed as a buyer was about to buy 1 kilogram of heroin and 200 grams of shabu-shabu, worth Rp 382 million (US$41,160)," Anton said.
"The two foreigners often sold drugs in the region. They might be members of a heroin network. We will investigate further to uncover the people behind the network and how they work," he said. --JP
