Women's volleyball team Jakarta Electric PLN dashed Jakarta BNI Taplus' hopes for revenge, winning 3-0 in the second series of the second round in the Sampoerna Hijau Proliga indoor volleyball championship at Ken Arok sports center in Malang, East Java, on Friday.

Coach Viktor Laiyan said his team, the 2004 champions, played their game without having to face any offense from their opponents.

"I instructed my players to enjoy the game. I told them not to think too much about winning or losing," Viktor told reporters after the match.

PLN eased to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 victory.

However, Viktor said he was still dissatisfied with the team's blocking, which he blamed for a brief collapse early in the deciding game. PLN trailed 5-0 in the third game, before regrouping to catch up and secure the match.

BNI Taplus coach Sukirno conceded his team gave a poor show.

"Our opponents made the most of our poor blocking and passing," he said, adding his team was performing at its lowest level in the tournament.

Sukirno said he would try to improve his players' passing shots.

The defeat was BNI Taplus' fourth loss in eight matches, while Electric PLN has increased its winning record to six from seven matches to take over from Surabaya Bank Jatim at the top of the standings.

In the men's division, Jakarta P2B Sananta once again had to concede to Bantul Yuso Tomkins 1-3. In their first-round match in Jakarta, Yuso Tomkins beat Sananta 3-0.

"As I predicted, due to low morale because we lost our two best players, we went down to Yuso Tomkins. But technically we were fine," said coach Benny Martarius. (nkn)
