Host Indonesia went down 2-0 to China on the first day of the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group II playoff on Friday.
Indonesia’s world No. 1,471 Christopher Rungkat lost to world No. 861 Li Zhe of China 6-3, 6-1, 6-1, while Christopher’s teammate Ayrton Wibowo fell 6-3, 6-1, 7-5 to China’s Bai Yan, ranked 505th in the world.
“I was unable to develop my rhythm as my opponent bombarded me with his unpredictable serves,” Christopher told a post-match press conference at the Senayan tennis courts, Jakarta.
