JAKARTA: The city administration says it expects to finish road repairs next month.

"Rain hampered road repairs we initially expected to complete this month," public works agency deputy head Budi Widiantoro said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

"We will work overtime (to meet the deadline)."

According to Budi, work has been completed on 70 percent of 120 identified stretches of damaged road across the city.

The budget for the work, allocated by City Council, is Rp 37 billion.

Potholes created during the wet season contributed to numerous accidents in February and March, in which dozens of motorists were killed, sparking public anger over poor road maintenance. -- JP

Only repairing the potholes is nut sufficient.
Some roads have to be open completely, make a new strong basic surface before they bring the asphalt on it.
Especially a new strong basic surface is important. Everywhere in the world it is raining and are running many trucks, busses etc. without getting potholes every year.

Repairing potholes has to be done every year but making it complete new can hold for much longer time and thus cheaper.
Can it be that the companies who repair the roads are using a bad quality sothat they are sure to get an new order every year????
