BEKASI: Garbage trucks delivering the capital's waste daily to Bantar Gebang dump in Bekasi are emitting the smell of rotten waste due to their torn canvas covers, a Bekasi official said.
"The trucks also break regulations by passing roads that shouldn't be used by garbage trucks," head of Bekasi Sanitation Agency Dedi Djuanda said, adding canvas-covered trucks should not use Jl. Achmad Yani after leaving Bekasi Barat toll gate in daylight hours.
According to him, the only trucks that should be allowed to pass during the day are the container and capsule types with closed lids, which do not emit any odor to surrounding areas.
He explained the closed trucks can also pass Cibubur, Bogor, and enter Jl. Raya Narogong, heading to Bantar Gebang dump.
"I have warned the Jakarta administration to obey the garbage delivery regulations we've agreed upon," he said, as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com newsportal. - JP
