Dede promises to revive Sundanese arts

JAKARTA: Former action film star and West Java vice governor wannabe Dede Yusuf has promised to revive declining Sundanese arts.
"Yes, it's true that Sundanese arts have been neglected. I plan to revive the arts of West Java," Dede, who is also a legislator from the National Mandate Party, said Friday on the sidelines of a meeting with West Java artists.
"The progress of regional arts contributes to the progress of national culture," Dede said in the meeting held at the home of former national deputy police chief Adang Daradjatun in Cipete area, South Jakarta.
Antara news agency reported that other popular artists, including musician Dwiki Dharmawan, comedian Dedi "Mi'ing" Gumelar, singer Ikang Fawzi and actress Happy Salma also attended the meeting.-- JP
