ADPARA>No wonder every Indonesian wants to be the president, you'll always be rewarded regardless your merits.
SJELINE

It's only a small amount of money, why not give them 100 times that and 1,000 slaves. That's the silliest thing I've ever heard.
JASON
Jakarta.
Totally inappropriate. How can he sleep at night?

For a five-year administration, Rp 20 billion is an appropriate amount. But for Gus Dur this amount is too much.

What do they think? For them, the most important thing is to get as much government assets as possible for their own. They don't have shame.

Rp 20 billion for a house for each former president? I'm speechless. Do they have hearts?
NETTY LALAMENTIK
Jakarta
Of course it's not. Rp 5 billion is enough for a house for a former president. Why give so much money to a former president when there are so many problems in this country?
Our poverty rate is around 50 percent, imagine what could be done with Rp 20 billion. Indonesia's government spends too much time dealing with useless issues instead of dealing with the nation's obvious bigger problems.
PATRICK

I read the report about a Rp 20 billion house for a former president. Meanwhile, people demonstrate to protest a meager price of house for tsunami victims in Aceh whose price is only US$1,595 each.
ROHIT
Jakarta
It is better to build houses for homeless rather than spoiling the former presidents and vice presidents who already have everything. If they still have heart, they won't accept it.
MEYLAN MAKIKAMA
Jakarta
It is a kind of a joke or what?
With such a amount of money, the state can do much for our education. So many children do not get proper education and many places do not have proper education facilities including school buildings and books.
KOMING

It's very inappropriate. I think they have "enough money" to buy a house. Is it humane to give Rp 20 billion for a house when many people are dying of starvation?

Rp 20 billion for a former president is a joke. You see, many people cannot afford even their daily meals. It is irrational.

Everywhere in Indonesia, many young people need help for higher education. If US$2.17 million is divided into $500 scholarships, with the money, the state could assist 4,340 students. It will be more of a benefit to the nation.
COLIN

I wonder what is on the mind of the Indonesian government? It spends Rp 20 billion for a house for a former president? Meanwhile the government doesn't even build adequate public schools, which I believe is more urgent for poor Indonesians.
MAYA H
Jakarta
Rp 20 billion for each former president and vice president? It is too much because they have been living prosperously. It is an unfair decision when we see so many people who are now struggling hard to meet even their daily needs.
Meanwhile, the government has also cut the allocation for the school operation funds (BOS). If those former leaders care about education, they will reject such money.
SUPRAYOGI
Bandung
It's extraordinary amount. Indonesia is a poor country and yet it gives money away to the former officials, while the government can't even afford to fix potholes in Jakarta.
FARAH
Jakarta
That was ridiculous. We're talking about Rp 20 billion! The money should be used as below: Rp 10 billion for education, Rp 5 billion for the environment, another Rp 5 million for hunger. Much more rational, isn't it?
REZA
Bandung
Do they think our country is so rich? Don't they know that we are still in a crisis condition? They have to return the money to the state for more urgent programs like poverty eradication.
Why do they always think of themselves first, while many people are still suffering from the prolonged crisis? The law is not fair and it should be revised.

All of them are former illegal presidents. 20b for fixed the system.
How about that. (Prepare for the m nr. 5)

I think, it is fair enough. It is only small amount for a president.
