Visitors check out six-month-old Lady Eileen II, a US$7 million three-room yacht on display at the Boat Asia 2008, Asia's premier leisure boat and luxury waterfront lifestyle event at the Marina on Keppel Bay, in Singapore.
The event was opened Thursday by Singapore's Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Yaacob Ibrahim, who arrived in style on a speedboat accompanied by Herman Ho, the managing director of TMX Show Productions; the Boat Asia 2008 organizer.
Together, the minister and Ho, as well as Teo Soon Hoe, the senior executive director and group finance director of Keppel Corporation Limited, launched the event by ringing a ship's bell three times.
The exhibition, which also features boating accessories and high-end luxury products, will give boating enthusiasts and potential boat owners the opportunity to view the latest luxury motor yachts, sail boats, catamarans and mega yachts produced by more than 100 international manufacturers, including the world-class Azimut, Ferretti, Grand Banks, Horizon, Princess and Sea Ray lines.
"Boat Asia 2008 will not only interest boating enthusiasts but there will be something for everyone, truly celebrating the boating and waterfront lifestyle," Ho said.
This year's show will also see the debut of exciting new luxury boats, such as the sleek and contemporary Princess 58 Flybridge; the winner of the Australian Boat of the Year in 2007, the Riviera SY4700; and this year's largest and most lavish eight-cabin yacht, the Ocean Yacht N95. The show will run until Sunday.
