MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: The West Nusa Tenggara administration has asked people not to buy singer Julia Perez's new album, which contains a bonus condom.

"Don't buy and play her 'bonus-condom' cassettes and CDs, which contain sexual-themed songs," West Nusa Tenggara's Religious Affairs Office head Suhaemi Ismy said Saturday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Suhaemi called on the government to ban the songs, including "Belah Duren" (Tearing Durian) -- a phrase used in reference to a woman's first sexual experience -- and "Kamasutra", saying the songs could trigger widespread promiscuity.

The local entertainment media has reported that many other regions in the country, including Balikpapan in East Kalimantan, have also prohibited the sale of Julia's album.

Born Yulia Rachmawati, and more popularly known as Jupe, the 28-year-old singer and TV soap star is reportedly disappointed by the ban, but has refused to retract her first album.--JP
