Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Antasari Azhar met with House of Representatives Speaker Agung Laksono on Monday to ask for permission to search the
office of detained lawmaker and bribery suspect Al Amin Nur Nasution.
"I cannot yet mention in detail what we are looking for, perhaps I will tell you after we have found it," Antasari Azhar said after the meeting with the House speaker at the legislative building here Monday.
House Ethics Council Deputy Chairman Gayus Lumbuun and House Commission III member Suripto stand in waiting for the KPK to complete its search of the 16th floor of the House's Nusantara I building where Nasution's office is located.
Lumbuun said the search would probably be made after an order had been received from the KPK chief.
While in Magelang, Central Java, last Friday, the House speaker said he did not object to the KPK search.
"I do not obstruct KPK in carrying out its tasks. The KPK was set up under a law made by the DPR," he said before opening a Borobudur Spiritual Art expo in the Borobudur Temple compound in Magelang.
However, he said in performing its duties, the commission must always maintain harmonious relations with other state institutions and alert those it wanted to investigate. (**)
