Just months after launching the 7-inch Eee PC 710 laptop in the country, Asus Indonesia announced it would introduce the 9-inch Eee PC to the Indonesian market early June.

"We are going to introduce the 9-inch Eee PC to the public early June," Asus Indonesia marketing specialist Titi Kristiani said recently.

Titi said the 9-inch Eee PC would not kill Eee PC 710 as the smaller size version would be allocated more to students.

In another press release available on Monday, Asus said the 9-inch laptop would fit the work of reporters, photographers and other mobile workers.

Unlike Eee PC 710, which has a resolution of 800x480, the 9-inch version opts for 1024x600, closer to the current personal computer resolution of 1200x600.

It means that the 9-inch Eee PC users will not have to scroll left and right when reading a folio-size story on the screen.

The 9-inch Eee PC weight is maintained at less than 1 kilogram, but the solid state disk (SSD) storage is raised to 20 Giga Byte (GB) for Linux version and 12GB for Window version. The previous Eee PC710 was available at 2, 4, 8, and 16GB SSD.

The press release did not mention the prize of the 9-inch Eee PC, but if a webcam, 4GB SSD, Linux version Eee PC 710 is sold at Rp 4.3 million, it is expected that the 9-inch prize could reach Rp 5.5 million here. (iwa)
