Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro installed R Prijono as chief of the Oil and Gas Industry Regulating Body (BP Migas) replacing outgoing chief Kardaya Warnika on Tuesday.

R Prijono was named BP Migas chief after passing the House of Representative Commission VII's fit and proper assessment for state officials.

The House of Representative's Commission VII deals with energy affairs.

"Prijono has two main tasks as the BP Migas chief, namely to increase the country's gas and oil production and implement cost recovery," Purnomo said.

The minister also said the Ministry was drafting BP Migas's restructuring, aimed at providing better services to oil and gas investors and other stakeholders. (*)
