READ Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern. The author, also Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern’s daughter, is best known for her debut novel P.S I Love You — which was adapted by Hollywood into a movie starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. The 26-year-old’s fourth and latest effort is a thriller meets chick lit tale where a woman who receives blood transfusion after surviving an accident begins experiencing memories of events unfamiliar to her.

CREATE your own tee at T-Lab at the Ex Bridge, Plaza Indonesia. Pick a colored tee, a design, and your masterpiece gets made while you wait. There’re a truckload of colors to choose from and even more graphics and typographic options for whatever feeling you want to wear on your sleeve.

WITNESS the crowning of a new American Idol as the seventh season of the talent competition comes to an end on 20 and 21 May.  Who will walk home with a recording contract, and the requisite year’s worth of hype? We wait with bated breath.

EAT your heart out at Puma’s Mongolian Shoe BBQ. Perplexed? The interactive and extremely fun website (www.puma.com/mongolianbbq) allows visitors to custom-make their own Puma shoes, ala picking out ingredients from a Mongolian BBQ spread. There are over 20 shoe bits that you need to pick out colors, materials and styles for — from bowls and with a pair of tongs, no less, onto your tray. Building a design may be tedious for some, but sneaker heads will undoubtedly get a blast from the process. The biggest disappointment? The online store doesn’t ship to these parts of the world. Still, it’s plenty of fun playing designer and seeing where your creative spark leads you. You even get to doggy-bag your design and come back to it when you feel more inspired.

GET your fill of fun, fashion and great nosh at the Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival at Kelapa Gading from May 15-25. With fashion shows, model walk-offs, awards ceremonies and a smorgasbord of events and activities, fashionistas, foodies and families will be equally entertained. Look out too for the always colorful Gading Carnival where street floats, pyrotechnics and hundreds of costumed dancers create a night spectacle you won’t soon forget.

Forget Las Vegas and show some love to the other Nevada city. Five-month-old Renos at Jl. Kemang Raya No.15-B Lt.3 promises “a slice of Nevada” in its spread that includes dependable American fare like steaks, grilled salmon and pastas.
