Workers of airport operator PT Angkasa Pura will go on strike in several airports across the country from Wednesday through Friday next week demanding a salary increase.

The strike, expected to take place in Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Manado, Biak, and Ambon, may disrupt flight schedules in those cities.

"We have staged a series of protests in Jakarta and Surabaya to voice our demand, but the firm has never listened to us," Arif Islam, chairman of Angkasa Pura Labor Union, said Friday.
"So we decide to strike next week."

The previous demonstrations were held in front of the Presidential Palace, the Surabaya's Juanda Airport, the Angkasa Pura main office, and relevant ministries offices, he said. (Uni/***)
