Indonesia was seen as a multi-cultural and tolerant society across the world, but the events against the Ahmadiyah sect are shocking.
They threaten the very fabric of Indonesian society, as the hardliners won't stop with this tiny sect. Their hatred will spread to attack other minority groups.
Indonesians must uphold the religious freedom embedded in their culture and constitution. The perpetrators against Ahmadis should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

A dark day in the history of Neo Muslim Indonesia and for followers of Islam, which is considered a religion of peace.
Honestly, Muslims forgot the true meaning of Islam long ago and are still living in the Middle Ages when tolerance towards other thoughts was considered blasphemy and diversion.
Shame on you fanatics. You just know how to kill others who don't agree with your belief system.

This is the impact of our government's slow action. Actually, the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) is long over due to issue its fatwa (decision by Muslims clerics) to ban the Jamaah Ahmadiyah.
Based on MUI research and investigations, the sect is deviant on two Islamic sources of teachings, i.e. the Holy Koran and the Haditz of Prophet Muhammad. So, the sect must be banned. It's important to protect our aqeedah (belief) to keep it in accordance with the two sources. Unfortunately, our government hesitates to execute them.

Delayed access to Amin office -- April 28, p. 1
I am not surprised by the attitude of our representatives. They are not only stealing people's money but are also promoting free sex activities. I do not know exactly what the duty of The House's Honor Council is.
If the sole task of the Council is to protect institutional images, then they are nothing but a futile element of The Council of People's Representatives. Image and prestige need to be protected but not covered.
The Council's delaying of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)'s investigation was evidence the Council was covering something up.
Further attention and protection need to be given to the KPK by academics from various backgrounds, jurists, or other prominent public figures.
This independent institution should move freely under existing national laws and without interference or threat from any state official. I personally hope the KPK will be more aggressive in monitoring every move of the state officials.

President remarks on energy saving -- May 1, Online
Your statement proves that you don't know your people and you don't know what your people are suffering. The word people refers to Indonesians who live without a decent living. So, do not think that I'm referring to your colleagues who turn out to be a minister and businessman.
The Indonesians have been suffering a lot during your administration. Prices of daily needs have been raised to adjust to the current economic situation. Why do you have the heart to burden your people? How could you have ever said you felt pity for them, with the soaring prices?
Were you afraid you would put the business of your colleagues at risk if you didn't raise prices? Do you hear the many parents cry out that they do not send their children to school because they can't afford it?
Why are you boastful that you have made some kind of achievement during your administration? If you made such achievement, why can your people can not afford a decent living let alone a prosperous life?
You demanded Indonesians reduce energy consumption. Your people have already done that amid soaring prices. You completely don't know your people. Why don't you address your statement to your subordinates? You'd better give people a living without consuming energy lavishly.
I suggest that you move out of your comfortable houses and live in a slum area to be close to your people. Then, I believe you can feel how your people are suffering now.
And, next, when you're making a regulation, it'll be in favor of your people, not your colleagues, friends, family, who have comfortable lives. Remember there are only a small number of such people. The rest goes to your people who can't afford a decent living in Indonesia, their own homeland. Don't work hard, but work smartly.
