This is wrong that the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) supports the ban on Ahmadiyah. Factually, they fully sympathize with Ahmadiyah followers and are even ready to deploy Banser (NU internal security guards) in case Ahmadiyahs are attacked, (The Jakarta Post, April 22, p. 8).
It is a moment of thought for all Muslims that they have to follow in the steps of other religions to solve their internal affairs peacefully.
Muslims, according to the Holy Koran, are obliged to follow the words of Allah and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad in case of any contention.
Allah says: "Say not anyone who greets you with greetings of peace 'Thou are not Muslim.'" (4:95)
In the words of Prophet Muhammad, the five pillars of Islam are shahadat (pledge), five daily prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadhan, Zakat and the haj to Mecca if able to do so, while the five pillars of Iman are belief in Allah, His prophets, His angles, all divine books and the Day of Judgment.
Therefore, whoever acts based on the pillars are legitimate Muslims. (Sahih Bukhari Kitab-ul-Iman chapter 1, p 11, published in Egypt.) This is the true definition of a Muslim -- no one else is above Holy Koran and Prophet Muhammad.
By the grace of Allah, Ahmadiyah whole-heartedly believe and practices the five pillars of Islam and Iman.
If the majority has the right to call a minority "deviant", then all the opponents of almost all the true prophets are justified. In the beginning, all Prophets were in the minority whereas their opponents were in the majority and they considered the prophets "deviant".
After the above explanation, if anyone still wants to consider Ahmadiyah "deviant", it is no problem because it is his/her basic human right. But do not force the Ahmadiyahs to believe in the same way and force to call themselves non-Muslims because this is against their basic human right as well.
