Your comments on the fifth ventilation failure at Carrefour's outlet in Ratu Plaza, Central Jakarta, causing dozens of employees of the France-based retailer to be taken to the hospital
Why do you always say it is Carrefour's fault? As far as I understand, Carrefour rents the space and the parking lot belongs to Ratu Plaza. Is this an example of the Post's inaccurate reporting?

The government must suspend Carrefour's license and must shut down their operation unless they comply with all health and safety regulations. Otherwise, more victims will keep coming. ANDRIO

Once is somewhat understandable. Twice is inexcusable. Five times is unforgivable. How can a major international company care so little about their Indonesian employees and customers?
If this were to happen in France, people would go to jail and the Carrefour CEO would be managing the issue personally. He probably does not even know or maybe simply does not care at all. JOHN B.

Apart from ventilation failure in Carrefour, I suspect it could be Legionnaires' disease from the AC system, which happened in many office buildings in Sydney with similar symptoms. Health officials should check the water tank and test the contaminated water in the water reservoir.
If it is the case then the water should be flushed out and properly cleaned. Otherwise, it will spread throughout the whole AC system and more people will get infected. This is a serious problem that should be addressed with the utmost urgency and all responsible parties should take action now! X'TINE

As long as Carrefour or owners of Ratu Plaza building fail to repair its ventilation system as required in permit documents, the city administration has to close the outlet temporarily.
The city administration has to consistently monitor and control such facilities to prevent similar accidents from happening again. ABDUL RAHIM

Obviously, the management of Carrefour is careless, not to mention heartless. They deserve to be sued, by the employees and also customers. Carrefour should know better and avoid such health risks. BUDI

Carrefour Ratu Plaza has to be closed until they install a proper ventilation system to meet capacity requirements, including an automatic backup system.
They and the property owner should be penalized heavily for gross negligence and sued for repeatedly breaking public safety regulations. EDWARD K.

There can only be one solution: Close that place immediately for good since it is a deadly trap for customers as well as staff members. I wonder how Carrefour got an operating license for this "hole" in the first place. P. HEINEICH

A total upgrade for the ventilation system is urgent. Close the outlet during the repairs for safety reasons. ASEP

Closing the basement is a good idea because it's the fifth occurrence. It means that they took the warnings for granted. NENG PRIYANTI

The ventilation system should be repaired immediately as otherwise the problem will be more complicated and more people will be hospitalized. CARINE T.

Early answer is maintenance. What does that mean in Indonesia? We think about it after something happens. J. OBERLZNDER

It is an architectural failure in ventilation design, which depends too much on power supply from state-owned power company PLN and other emergency power sources. KARDIM I.

I think it is deplorable that it has happened five times! Does it also mean that the refrigerators were not working? It is going to be a while before I go to any Carrefour. ANAND P.

It has happened five times. How come the authority does not take action more than just issuing a warning. The Carrefour should have been closed. NIKE

Carrefour is a supermarket operation, they are not responsible for the utilities that are supposedly provided by the building owners. So how on earth can Carrefour be liable - or responsible - for the poor maintenance by PT Ratu Sayang International, which has nothing to do with Carrefour except take their rent? If Carrefour had spoken with any of the Ratu Plaza apartment tenants prior to entry they would have received a very clear message as to the maintenance performance of the building's owner.
