Navy has certified all weaponry ahead of joint training

The Indonesian Navy headquarters certified all weaponry to be used in the Indonesian Military (TNI) joint training in June, Navy chief spokesman Cmdr. Iskandar Sitompul said Tuesday.

"We have checked and certified all of our weaponry to be deployed at the joint training," he said.

"The Navy is prioritizing the safety and security of its seaman and soldiers."

The Navy will deploy, among other things, 61 warships, 30 PT- 76 amphibious tanks, 55 amphibious armored personnel carriers (APCs), two hovercrafts, three NB0-105 and two NBell 412 helicopters and a number of smaller boats and artillery units.

The joint training, code named Yudha Siaga, is conducted in two stages: command post and field exercises.

The command post exercise was held April 21-28 at the 1st Infantry Division of the Army's Strategic Reserve Command headquarters in Cilodong, West Java.

Soldiers will conduct the field exercise June 1-20 in four locations: Natuna and Batam in Riau Islands province, Singkawang in West Kalimantan and Sangatta in East Kalimantan.

The Army will deploy 38 tanks, 19 APCs, nine helicopters and one NC-212 light transport aircraft.

The Air Force is scheduled to send 21 fighter planes, 31 transport planes and 13 helicopters of various types. (****)
