JAKARTA: Whistle-blower Inu Kencana Syafiie on Tuesday sought support from the House of Representatives against the government decision to remove him from his job.

He was a lecturer at the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in Bandung and disclosed acts of violence and corruption within the institute.

Inu said his promotion to a post at the Home Ministry amounted to a dismissal.

"Officials at that level retire at the age of 55. I am 56 now, I would have to retire right after my inauguration," he said.

Inu was sworn in as a ministry official without prior notice last week. As a lecturer at IPDN, he would have been allowed to serve until the age of 65.

Soeripto and Nadrah Izahari of House of Representatives Commission III on legal affairs said they fully supported Inu and asked him to report his dismissal to the National Commission on Human Rights. -- JP
