JAKARTA: Song writer and singer Anang Hermansyah, who is also a member of the Indonesian Idol jury, said Wednesday he could do nothing to save talented Idol contestants from being eliminated.
"It's all about SMS. But over all, the 12 contestants who have reached the stage have skills and a variety of colors," Anang said during a press conference at Plaza Semanggi in Central Jakarta.
The husband of pop Krisdayanti said although he harshly criticized the contestants, they were all working hard to improve their skills.
Among the three jurors - which includes musician Indra Lesmana and singer Titi DJ39-year-old Anang frequently slams the Idol contestants. He even told one singer in the final 12 that her voice sounded "like a broken radio".
The contest between the final 12 will begin Friday at Balai Sarbini building in Plaza Semanggi, and will be aired live on RCTI. --JP/A. Junaidi
