An international airport without guaranteed road access is fatal. Jakarta is sinking at an average rate of 20 centimeters a year. The melting of the polar ice increase the sea level by average of 30 centimeters a year.
Raising the road or landing strip will not help. It is just a matter of time before the water level catches up with the raised land. The airport needs to move to higher ground to permanently solve the long-term problem. At least 40 meters higher.

If I compare airports of neighboring countries to Jakarta's airport, I'd conclude: Bangkok's, Kuala Lumpur's and Singapore's airports are world class, but sadly Jakarta's airport has no class.

I think the conditions of airports in five regions have improved in the last 10 years. But the management should constantly improve the services, including building new infrastructure and facilities.
The management should recruit professionals to improve effectiveness and efficiency and they should receive better salaries. As for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the government should construct a new elevated road and a railroad so people have choices -- freeing them from flooding and traffic jams.

I've traveled all around the world and I can assure you Indonesian airports are the most disgusting. They're wet and stink of urine. The arrival areas smell of cigarette smoke. I don't know where the millions in funding go.

Airports are part of the commercial area. But their authorities may forget their main task is to serve travelers. Therefore, flooding, which often occurs along the road heading to the airport, shouldn't disrupt the function of the airports.

To improve conditions, the airport authority has to pay serious attention to the environment and infrastructure of airports and their surroundings.
It should maintain a good atmosphere as a comfortable workplace to encourage loyal employees working with spirit. Sophisticated instruments are needed to guarantee safety and high productivity.

I'd like to convey my feeling about airports in Indonesia. I think airports here are in a very sad condition. They are run by small-minded people.
They have no vision and lack good service. I just came back from Singapore and it was really such fun to be at the airport. It's so organized and beautifully decorated. The shops make us want to buy everything.
Then I arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta airport. Wow, what a difference. It was like night and day. I sat waiting for my husband in the duty free shop and oh my gosh.
The shops are in bad condition and are not attractive at all. And they're not cheap to rent, I believe. Not to mention the toilets. Embarrassing. I think the KPK should start to investigate Angkasa Pura's operations. They could make more money by making the place exciting and attractive.
What a pity. The person who runs it has no vision at all.

Airports give Indonesia a very bad image among world travelers.

Apart from being hampered by strikes and flooding, the airport itself needs serious improvements on a number of aspects, including security, convenience and restrooms.

The airport must be seriously renovated because the airport is the face of the country.

Who is stealing the airport tax? Why don't you have to put buckets in Jakarta's airport on rainy days?

It's ridiculous. Our government should fix this situation because an international airport is the gateway of the country.

Just look at the toilets and you'll know what I think.

I can understand why there are still strikes and floods. But the low quality of Jakarta's airport is very embarrassing. The Jakarta airport is the worst in the region. Compared to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok, Jakarta's airport should be ashamed.
Jakarta's airport desperately needs a facelift, a new international standard terminal should be built. Finally, all I can say is toilets, toilets and toilets. How can we accept such a low standard?

We have a poor quality airport because the institution tasked to manage the facility lacks discipline. What happens in our airport is sad: delayed flights, dirty toilets, ticket scalpers and airplane accidents.

I suggest the government pay serious attention to the problem. Please, fix the problem before it becomes worse and worse.

The conditions are extremely bad; amongst the worst in world.
