Hungary's President Laszlo Solyom is scheduled to visit Indonesia on Wednesday during his first visit to Asia since taking office in June 2005, the Hungary Embassy said in a press release Friday.

Solyom is slated to meet with, among others, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the House of Representatives Speaker Agung Laksono and the Regional Representatives Council Speaker Ginandjar Kartasasmita.

During his visit, which includes trips to Singapore and Vietnam, both countries will sign a memorandum of understanding for the provision of loans to Indonesia.

Solyom is also scheduled to a lay wreath at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetary and present a lecture at the University of Indonesia on "Climate Change Mitigation: Duties and Opportunities".

Bilateral cooperation between Hungary and Indonesia began on June 26, 1955. The countries established an economic cooperation commission in 1988. Indonesia is one of Hungary's main trading partners in Southeast Asia.

Hungary recently offered the technology to produce serum to eradicate bird flu virus. (****)
