Unair hosts English debate contest

SURABAYA: Airlangga University (Unair) hosted early this month the National English University Debate Contest for university students in South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and East Java. The provincial English debate competition, which aims to improve English skills among university students, will be organized every year.

During the three-day event from May 14-17, a team from the Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS)'s Shipbuilding School won first place. Teams from Surabaya State University and Brawijaya University won second and third place, respectively.

Meantime, the Airlangga team failed to place in the competition.

The teams that placed first and second will go on to compete in the national debate competition in Jakarta. - JP
