The Malaysian soccer team arrived in Surabaya on Wednesday to take on Indonesia in an exhibition match on Friday in the East Java's capital city.
Bhaskran R. Satianathan, the Malaysian team head coach, said his young team would use the opportunity to gain more experience and build team morale.
"My team consists of young players aged under 23. This is part of our regeneration after our failure in the 2007 Asian Cup," he said.
"This match is important to build team confidence before playing in the 2008 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup in December this year."
In 2007, Bhaskran said, his team lost 1-3 to Ireland, defeated Iraq 1-0 and drew 1-1 against Nigeria. (***)
