Nexian mobile phone brand holder PT Metrotech Jaya Komunika launched Thursday a new GSM/CDMA dual-mode cellular phone, NX-250D, aiming at selling 10,000 units by the end of the year.
The NX-250D, equipped with a 512MB external memory, will be sold at Rp 1,999,000 (about US$ 212.5).
The polyphonic mobile phone also has a 65K TFT color screen, and a 2.0 mega-pixel camera.
Its WAP browser allows users to enjoy internet connection and its computer sync application makes it easier for users to connect the mobile phone with a personal computer or a laptop.
"We are currently leading the dual-mode segment in the country," PT Metrotech Jaya Komunika's president director Martono Jaya Kusuma told reporters on Thursday.
The new mobile phone was supported by GSM operator PT Telkomsel and CDMA operator PT Telkomunikasi Indonesia.
"We are proud of becoming the first national firm producing mobile phone locally. Thirty percent of our components are also local components. With the support from PT Telkomsel and Telkom Flexi, we hope we can still become the leading local mobile phone producer," said Martono.
Martono claimed his firm had successfully sold its previous three dual mode mobile phones.
