Sacked PKB chairman wins court verdict

The South Jakarta District Court on Thursday issued a verdict in favor of the sacked National Awakening Party (PKB) chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar, saying his dismissal was illegitimate.

Presiding judge Suharto said Muhaimin dismissal was against the law, therefore his rights should be restored.

Muhaimin was sacked in a meeting among PKB leaders led by Abdurrahman Wahid.

However, Muhaimin rejected the decision, saying it was not legitimate because the leaders' meeting was not a national meeting. (***)
